We use the "Best Fit" application process rather than "First come, first served". We want our dogs and adopters to be the best match possible.
The following are the basic steps we take when adopting out our dogs and puppies:
1. All applications are forwarded to the Foster. The Foster reviews each application and contacts the top applicants (up to 5 at a time) that appear to be best suited for the dog. Follow-up questions may be asked and applicants can ask any questions they may have.
2. A meet and greet will be scheduled when all household members of the applicants home can attend; this includes their dog(s) if applicable. The first meet will happen either at the Foster's home or at a neutral location like a park.
3. The Foster will then select one or two applicants to set up a home check of the applicant's residence; again with all people and pets present.
4. The Foster will decide, based on best fit, who will be given the offer of adoption. The Foster will arrange for a final visit at the applicants home along with the LPDR Adoption Coordinator to finalize the adoption.
